What you can do: Tell the BBC
The BBC management structure has recently changed (as of October 2012) and therefore a new regime may offer a glimmer of hope for the Midlands. At the very least, the BBC needs to be reminded of the savage cutbacks that have been made to their facilities and that Midlanders are concerned.
Write to: The Director General, BBC, Broadcasting House, Portland Place, London W1A 1AA.
Or, write to the BBC Trust - the governing body that is tasked with representing the interests of the licence fee payer. It might be worth mentioning that here in the Midlands we are required to pay the same licence fee as everywhere else (£145.50 p.a.) but we undoubtedly get so much less in return (less facilities, less programme making, less jobs, less representation).
Write to: Lord Patten, Chair, BBC Trust, 180 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5QZ,
Email: trust.enquiries@bbc.co.uk
It's unlikely that you will be able to persuade them to sign The BBC petition, but do tell them that the BBC raises over £580 million every year from TV licence fee payers in the East & West Midlands and that we would rather see some of that coming back into the region for network radio and television.
